Stepping into the cottage from the porch you feel immediately cocooned in the cosy sitting room. It is so peaceful in here, helped by walls which are several feet deep. Sink into one of the armchairs by the fire and take some time to enjoy the sense of history in the cottage.
When you’re ready to explore Swallow Cottage further you’ll find a charming kitchen complete with table and chairs, a lovely spot for tea and cake. The double bedroom is in the opposite direction up a few steps from the sitting room. The en suite is beautifully tiled and includes a bath to relax in after a long days sightseeing.

|Location description: ||Swallow Cottage has an enviable location. Sitting on the edge of Gillamoor, an attractive North York Moors village, the local village pub is just a few minutes’ walk away. A few miles in the other direction takes you to the pretty town of Kirbymoorside and then on to vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns like Pickering and Helmsley; both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tea-rooms and independent shops. Beyond the village lies the North York Moors. A landscape like no other, it’s a place of gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge affords some of the best views in the country in our opinion, and is just a few minutes’ drive from the cottage. And if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes. Swallow Cottage is also close to the North Yorkshire Coast, with the gothic town of Whitby and the picture-postcard fisherman village of Robin Hood’s Bay less than 30 minutes’ drive. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights sounds and tastes of Yorkshire’s coastline. Fish ‘n Chips at the Magpie Café is a must! Hutton-le-Hole, quite possibly the most beautiful village in the North York Moors, is just around the corner and you’re also close to Castle Howard and York, so lots of choice for day trips. |
