    --THE CALENDAR ABOVE DISPLAYS DATES BASED ON YOUR SELECTION IN THE "RESOURCE" DROP-DOWN MENU (BELOW).
    --WHEN REGISTERING, WE RECOMMEND USING THE "ARRIVAL DATE" SECTION ON THE FORM. FOR THEMED RETREAT, ARRIVAL DATE IS AUTOMATICALLY SELECTED.
    --FOR PERSONAL RETREAT, "DURATION" IS DEPENDENT ON DATES BEING AVAILABLE (IN GREEN).

    1.) Pick a retreat and type of accommodation in the “Resource” drop-down menu under Reservation Details (below). If no retreat is selected, then all dates may show up as unavailable (in red).
    2.) Each guest must complete an individual registration.
    3.) Please note that Fridays are our arrival days for Personal Retreat. We do not offer retreats outside of available dates (in green).

    Standard retreat fees are the following:
    Personal Retreat
    bed in shared room* - $80 per night
    camping - $50 per night

    Themed Retreat (4 nights/5 days)
    bed in shared room* - $400 ($100 per night)
    camping - $240 ($60 per night)
    commuter (staying off site) - $240 ($60 per night)
    *Cabins are assigned to families/couples on first come, first served basis, according to "requested roommates" section on registration form. All other friends will be assigned to dorms.

    Retreat fees cover accommodation (if applicable), three meals per full day, activities, and use of facilities. Rates are per person.

    Age-based automatic discounts listed under Retreatant Age section below.
    20% discount for students, if needed - please contact us to receive discount.

    Please note that we don't want finances to block or discourage anyone from participating in our retreats. If you require financial assistance in order to visit, we invite you to email us at office@magnoliagrovemonastery.org.

    ***Special note for Personal Retreat:
    We would like to inform you that in the 2 weeks from May 15-29 we will focus solely on working meditation to finish the completion our dining hall renovation and will not have our regular formal practice schedule.
    If you don’t mind and would still like to come, we are happy to offer you a very light, informal practice schedule during the week (Monday - Friday) and we will mostly be focused on Saturday and Sunday as “full formal practice” days!

  • Please know that your estimated time of arrival* to the monastery will help us better prepare food for the next meal!
    *For Personal Retreat, please arrange to arrive at the monastery between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. CT on the first day of your retreat - typically Friday.
    *For Themed Retreat, please arrange to arrive at the monastery between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. CT on the opening day of your retreat - typically Wednesday or Thursday.
  • Please know that your estimated time of departure* from the monastery will help us better prepare food for the next meal!
    *For retreats ending on Friday, you may plan your departure following breakfast, around 9am.
    *For retreats ending on Sunday, you may plan your departure following the Day of Mindfulness, around 2pm.
    *For the closing day of themed retreats, you may plan your departure following lunch, around 2pm.
    *For all departure days, you may also leave earlier in the day, as needed.

  • Practicing with the Brothers: male, transgender men, non-binary, gender-fluid, gender queer, agender

    *Please note that your selection helps with room assignments and planning for our retreats. Many scheduled activities will take place with both brothers and sisters; and some activities will take place separately.

    Many friends have experienced lessened anxiety, a lifting of depression and improvements in general well-being through mindfulness practice. However, we urge all friends to continue any medication or treatment prescribed by your healthcare practitioner during your stay.

    If you suffer from any chronic long term mental or physical illnesses, please ask your doctor if it is advisable for you to attend a retreat of this length with us. Please be aware that we cannot provide any professional care and should we see that it becomes appropriate to reach out for professional help, we may ask you to leave and seek proper help.
Mindfulness Trainings
  • The 5 MTs are formally offered in a transmission ceremony during our themed retreats (not offered on Personal Retreats). Friends who receive the trainings receive a Dharma name and certificate.

  • By checking this box, I acknowledge that I am applying to register for a mindfulness retreat. If accepted, I understand that I am expected to participate in the daily retreat schedule of the monastery and to practice according to the Five Mindfulness Trainings during my stay (a copy of the Five Mindfulness Trainings can be found on "The Path of Happiness" page of our website). I also understand that I am expected to remain on the monastery grounds for the duration of my retreat, unless I receive permission to leave and entry information to reenter. Further, I understand that, except in cases of emergency, I will not have access to monastery phones, computers, internet, or Wi-Fi, and that outside work, school, and family obligations must be set aside during my stay.
